This book is an experiment for me and there is no guarantee I’ll finish it. My previous attempts at reading the cyberpunk gent went relatively poorly; Altered Carbon leaning too heavily into the sexual themes for my taste and Neuromancer reading like an absolutely chaotic mess. However, thematically cyberpunk is still a genre that fascinates me and one I want to love. It is in this spirit that I picked up this Big Book of Cyberpunk. Having purchased it in a library as it includes some comic book pages, I only found volume II. Nevertheless, given that it is a collection of unrelated short stories, I wouldn’t expect this to be an issue. Since it is just short of 1000 pages and contains dozens of short stories, I do not think reviewing it in full at the end would make much sense. Instead, I will be returning here after finishing each short story to write a brief review (which could be as short as a handful of sentences) of each story before looking back to reflect on my thoughts about the cyberpunk genre as a whole. This is going to be a long one and I might look at reading other books in between, so this should be seen as a continuous background project.
