The Hunger Games Series (Books 1-3)
The books outshine the movies with deeper world-building, Katniss’ internal monologue and richer character development. Very solid YA dystopia. 7/10

Mickey7 (Mickey 7 #1)
Mickey7 wastes a promising premise with derivative sci-fi, poor world-building, flat characters and major plot holes. Disappointing. 3/10

Black Mirror
Black Mirror season 7 is a mixed bag with some standout grim tech tales but mostly forgettable. Not the show’s best, but not its worst. 5/10

Forward Collection
The Forward Collection is one standout tale (Summer Frost) in a sea of underwhelming misses. All ambitious concepts, but most stall before liftoff. 4.5/10.

The Bobiverse Series (Books 1-3)
The Bobiverse brims with clever ideas, uneven execution, and endless charm. Frustratingly shallow in parts, but still a lovable sci-fi standout. 9/10

Morning Star (Red Rising Saga #3)
What should have been the high octane ending of an epic trilogy turns into the third entry of a much longer saga. The first half feels a bit more generic and drags on a bit too long and whilst the second half goes back to the highs of books 1 and 2, I still question…

System Collapse (Murderbot Diaries #7)
The Murderbot series is starting to show signs of degeneration as the series is getting longer still without a continuous story to tell. System Collapse is still enjoyable but it clearly suffers from being a full sized novel instead of a short story.

Neuromancer (Sprawl #1)
I’ll openly admit that I think I missed something here. Neuromancer’s writing style was so confusing to me that I struggled to follow what was happening and to understand the world events were taking place in. It feels very cyberpunk-y to an extreme degree but that is really the only aspect I could semi consistently…

Red Rising (Red Rising Saga #1)
A surprising hit for me, Red Rising’s premise is heavily Hunger Games inspired but manages to detach itself from it and arguably perform better (at least if I compare this book to the HG movie). The greco-roman mythology twist is pure flavour but it works and the book is simply fun even if it tells…
